CASSA Gathering: “Caring and Practising Self-Care Throughout Life”
To mark the International Day of Care and Support, the Institute for Ageing with Dignity (INED) could organize a gathering with the Learning, Socialization and Knowledge Circles (CASSA). The event would recognize older persons as recipients and providers of care, as well as holders of knowledge that is essential to community life.
The gathering could include dialogue circles on care experiences, workshops on self-care and healthy ageing, cultural activities, and a participatory session to collect older persons’ proposals regarding the services and support that Mexico City’s Care System should provide.
In addition to raising awareness of the rights established under Mexico City’s Care System Law, the event would strengthen community networks, promote older persons’ autonomy, and highlight their social contributions—ensuring that they are not viewed solely as dependent individuals or recipients of assistance.
