Weaving Networks, Caring for Rights: Collective Action 2026
Circle of Voices and Knowledge: Intersectoral Dialogues
Overall purpose:
To create a regional space for dialogue and collective action that highlights care as a shared social responsibility and a human rights issue, recognising the voices of caregivers, people who require support, grassroots organisations and activists, with particular attention to the right to autonomy and independent living of persons with disabilities.
- Format: A two-hour virtual dialogue using a “fishbowl” format, in which panellists and audience members take turns participating in the conversation.
- Approach: A horizontal dialogue bringing together representatives of grassroots organisations, caregivers, people who use support services and human rights activists, both from Costa Rica and other countries in the region. Topics will include the economic recognition of care work, the right to personal autonomy, and shared responsibility between the state and society.
- Outcome: Key testimonies and demands will be compiled into a short joint digital manifesto. This will subsequently form the basis of the “Weaving Networks, Caring for Rights 2026 Manifesto”, a brief collective digital document bringing together the main demands emerging from the dialogue. For example, it could include ten commitments or demands identified during the activity.
Throughout the scheduled period, messages will be shared on the official social media pages.
